A Trip Around Chicago
A Trip Around Chicago
Chicago IL “the windy city,” is known for being the 3rd largest town in the United States due to the famous tourist attractions that sit right along Lake Michigan. People from all around the country visit Chicago for sites such as the Navy Pier, Millenium Park, and the Willis Tower. This past summer, Chloe took a trip to her favorite summer getaway: Chicago. While visiting many popular tourist sites, Chloe found hidden gems she recommends going too.
Magnificent Mile:
Chloe started off her trip on the magnificent mile, the heart of Chicago. The Magnificent Mile is known for its upscale shops, hotels, and restaurants. With the bright blue Chicago river running below, tourists swarm to this hot spot.
Chloe started by visiting her dream job location: The Chicago Tribune. The Chicago Tribune is a daily newspaper founded in Chicago. At the time the surroundings of the Tribune were under construction .so she didn’t get to go inside, but being right outside her future office was enough.
Chloe then made her way to the numerous shops that surround the famous road. Many high end stores along the road include Burberry, Pandora Jewelry, and Louis Vuitton. From spending half her money in the two-story Forever 21 and finding some down priced Balenciagas she was done shopping for the day and made her way to the next site see.
The John Hancock Building:
Also located in the Magnificent Mile district, sits the 100 story John Hancock skyscraper. The John Hancock building offers a 360 view of the town from 1000 feet above.
While riding in the elevator up to the top of John hancock building, Chloe’s ears began to pop knowing it was a high up. Once she reached the top and stepped off the elevator, the views were amazing. Glass windows from head to toe covered the entire top floor. She admired the beauty of Lake Michigan and the numerous skyscrapers all lined up next to each other. After spending about 30 minutes taking in a visual experience of Chicago, she made her descend down the elevator and continued to the next stop.
Stan’s Donut and Coffee:
Stan’s Donut bakeries surround the Chicago area with their delicious, old fashioned donuts. This bakery is a hidden gem tourists need to visit.
After Chloe finished her trip to the top of the Hancock tower, she made her way to Stan’s Donut shop down the street. She picked out her favorite donuts; cinnamon sugar and vanilla sprinkled cake. The aesthetic vibe in the shop was filled with different shades of the color pink. She watched the local chicagoans come in and order their regular orders then head to work. This bakery is not only filled with delicious donuts, but high rush atmosphere as well.
Broken English Taco:
This unique and vibrant taco restaurant creates a modern atmosphere for mexican food.
The next day Chloe began walking towards Millennium Park but was intrigued (and hungry), when she saw this funky taco restaurant. The atmosphere was a twist of modern mexican and bright colors. She finished her tray of tacos and took some pictures of her favorite quotes on the wall. This restaurant was another hidden gem Chloe added to her list of coming back too.
Millenium Park: Millennium Park holds the famous Chicago Bean tourists come to take pictures with and admire the art.
Chloe’s last stop on her weekend getaway was the Chicago Bean. Although with the insane amount of tourists visiting the site, her trip came to a short end. After taking a couple pictures of the bean and the amount of tourists admiring the creation she decided to head home. Millennium Park is such a populated spot where Chicagoans and tourists gather to enjoy what it has to offer.
Chloe recommends taking a trip around Chicago and these special tourist sites. You might even find some hidden gems on the way just like she did.
